Put the nut and olive that came with the iso valve ,onto the iso valve.then push In the brass shaft. Then tighten nut up as described above.
Worth adding isolating valves to taps?

Yes ,hand tighten nut against olive ,slide in brass adaptor as far as it will go.then tighten with spanners.
