Worth Repairing Roof Apex?

Just had scaffolding put round the house to get fascias and guttering fixed.

The scaffolding is costing us a whopping £2,500 so given the cost I want to do reasonable work to help ensure we don’t have to incur this cost again anytime soon.

Not sure what I should do about the apex as you can see the mortar has some cracks and some small amount of water is getting under the boards.

Take the verges down, clean off tiles rebed and point. Get the valley checked while you have easy access
 
Searching on the web would a Dry Verge System that screws into the roof battens like Marley mean that I could avoid bedding these tiles into mortar?

Yes.

You may have to extend the tile battens for individual caps.
There are continuous types too.

That may be an asbestos undercloak, which may need removing
