Do work every week at a block of flats for a day. I bill them attend of month. They want to pressure wash drive way. I don't want to use my cheapo machine so was going to hire one from Jewsons. Would I charge the £40 to property maintenance company ?

Just include it in your price as well as your time for picking it up and taking it back.

And don't forget the cost of the fuel needed.

I don't charge them for driving to the job and back which is far. Should I minus the thirty minutes off my eight hrs on the job for driving to Jewsons and loading it into van?

All depends if you want paying for your time. Most tradesmen work on the basis that their time costs. If it’s a one-off, explain to them that a professional machine will need hiring and add that cost on but if it’s a regular contract, why not buy a proper machine and charge more - surely that must be more cost effective?
