If it needs manual dimming, then it won't happen :whistle: Like the alleged savings with smart meters, you might do it for a week or two, then the novelty will wear off. Just pick something that's suitable in the first place and install it correctly.
If you wanted the "dim from dawn to dusk, bright when the sensor triggered" then you could put up a low power light on a dusk-dawn switch and a separate sensor controlled light for the brighter illumination.

BTW - you would be surprised how little power you need. I replaced the light on the front of the house by the front door - I can tell you that at night, it's 7W is "quite bright", nearly need these to get in the door :cool:
