Hi

I have this consumer unit connected via a Henley block to the meter. It powers my garage via the 32A MCB and the shower via the 40A MCB. It only has a 63 A RCD. I know I can apply diversity. So I'd this safe? Also, is the RCD actually a RCCB or should there also be an overcurrent device rather than the RCD?

It's fine.

No its not an RCCB

The installer could apply diversity when it was installed

What size cable goes to the garage ?

It IS an RCCB in that it has the same function as those that are labelled correctly.
Neither offers overcurrent protection.
An RCBO is also an RCD.

Whether OCP is required depends on the rating of the main fuse and supply cable.

Just seen the size of the cable so yes, OCP is required somewhere.

Yes, that's what I meant. Is that not the supply cable - to the garage?

The DNO supply cable is hardly relevant, is it?

Ah, I now see where I was confused - I think.

I had assumed the garage CU was connected via henly blocks to the meter with the 4mm².

If it is, instead, connected with 'tails' then 4mm² to the garage then it is alright.
