Hello! My Yale Lock will seems broken; the handle is loose and moves freely up and down, and the actual latch is stuck inside the main body and will not come out, which means the door cannot be locked. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

buy a new one.

You can take the old one apart if you want to tinker. It might have a broken spring. You have of course checked that the snib button works.

A BS nightlatch would be much more secure than that zinc-bodied thing.

I hope you have a mortice deadlock on that door as well. The nightlatch will stop it blowing open in the breeze but will not inconvenience a burglar, especially if it in a door with a letterbox or glass panel.

Never mind, I got a crosshead screwdrive, jiggled around a couple of parts, and it's working fine again. I'm far too cheap to buy a new lock.
