Euro door lock was starting to fail. Bought a new Yale lock barrel to replace it. Unfortunately something inside the operation had come loose and had to snap the old lock to get it out.

The new lock has slid in, the new key turns and engaged all the multi points and the door handle lifts....but....if I put in the fixing screw for the lock, the door handle won't push up, so I can't keep the lock in the right place.

I've tried shorter and longer screws (that came with the lock) to no avail.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

When you took the old cylinder out did you remove the screw that holds it in? With the new cylinder in place try it with the screw removed, will the handle lift without the screw, my guess it will

Yes, that was the one that was broken off, there was no head on it, so it looked like there wasn't one in there from the outside. Had to get it out of the thing with tweezers as it was floating about.

Cheers

It was a grub screw which needed an allen key to unscrew, because youve put a screw in its jamming the mechanism up, if you take the screw out but leave the cylinder in place i bet the handle will lift up, check this recent thread for pictures and my responses

Thanks for this, there was nothing available to unscrew originally which is why I suspect it was broken off.

Yes, taking it out allows for the handle to move up and down.

The kit came with two rounded screws with Phillips heads, so sounds like they might need an upgrade.

Will look into grub screws.

Cheers
