Hey,

Just wondering if anyone has seen this before and knows what it might be or how to fix it.

We had the outside of our house painted with white masonry paint, and the bottom half of the bricks painted grey. After a little while, some areas of the white paint started to turn yellow. I think the yellow might also be appearing on the grey bricks, but it’s harder to see there.

There’s a crack in the render nearby which could be the cause. Could it be damp, or maybe water getting into the crack and causing moisture to come through? Would that explain the yellow stains on the bricks?

Any ideas on what it might be and how to fix it would be really appreciated. I’m guessing if I just paint over it again with white masonry paint the yellow will probably come back, so I’d rather fix the root cause first.

it looks like water staining. quite bad.

is it worse near the kitchen or bathroom?

does your house have concrete floors?

have you got a water meter?

look for the DPC. what is its height, relative to outdoor ground level?

what is the internal floor level, relative to outdoor ground level?
