Hi all,

Just moved house and the seals around he glass in the upvc windows have gone yellow due to the previous smoking a lot. I've tried some solvent cleaner but it didn't improve the colour. Therefore:

Are these seals replaceable?
Are they attached to the beading?
Can they be accessed by removing the beading?
Any better ideas?

Many Thanks

It's attached to the bead, known as co extruded, you'll need to clean them better or replace the beads, the latter might prove difficult as they look like old anglian beads, probably obsolete now

Thanks for the reply.

Is the solvent cleaner I have the best substance for cleaning them, or is there something better on the market I could try?

Should cleaning them not work, would masking either side of the seal and painting the seal with some gloss paint be worth a go? Or would that just flake off over time?

Thanks again.

Try T-cut from the automotive stores. My windows were painted - not deliberately, whoever painted the walls just didn't care and left brush strokes over half of the frame. I scraped most of it carefully and cleaned the rest with T-cut. Works wanders!
