What is it with folk?

It wouldn't be so bad, but they've done the usual trick of terminating cpc's outside the enclosure...

Aside from the CPCs I bet that one is actually quite neat (mount the choc block and take care with the wires and it can end up a work of art like a neat DB!), not like the ones here with cables just run into the box, striped back, choc blocked with separate pieces and shoved in.

I have actually seen one before with about 15 cables into it, a mix of 3c+cpc and T+cpc (various banks of switches, lights and feeds off to other stuff), in the box, totally crammed full of pieces of choc block 2, 3 or 4 blocks in length, cpcs terminated outside in a bolt with a hole through it

Wish my loft space was as tidy as that.

Is that another jb on the reverse side of the truss ?

a central junction does make sense for lighting imo. It makes it a lot easier to reassign which switch controls which lights and if you put in some extra cables from your central point to the switch points you can add lights or introduce two way switching without ripping up the walls.

My point was it was a good idea spoiled by having all the cpc's externally terminated....

TTC: I did move stuff around a bit - makes working easier, but boy was it hot in that loft yesterday....

I'll probably get shouted at for this, but does this actually contravene any regs?

At the least it is bad practice, but isn't there a reg that says single insulated conductors must not be exposed? And terminations?

Are bonding conductors not single insulated? And exposed along their entire length? How is the CPC of a circuit any different?
