Have a Zanussi ZBF260 oven. It was put on grill and seemed fine, when my wife went back white smoke came out and it was cold. Neither grill or oven settings working, light does not come on. There is a white powdery residue on the oven roof. This didn't trip the circuit either. Element?solution?

Sorry for the late reply.

It sounds like the element has failed, Normally it is quite obvious especially if you have a white powder in the cavity (its quite often the mineral insulation from inside the element).

The element may look distorted or have splits in it. They are not hard to change loads of vids on you tube on how to. If you can not see any obvious damage then check out the continuity of the element (usually around 25 ohms).

The oven has no power, this is a symptom of a failed element on your style of oven (13 Amp plug either behind the oven or nearby usually in a cupboard or less often a 13 A fused connection unit) simple to check but most of the time the 13 A fuse is blown.

Just make sure you isolate the oven by the isolator (double pole switch for it) not just at the mains fuse for the circuit (sometimes better to turn all the power off if you can not identify the cooker switch)
