zone alarm q

I have zone alarm and just after boot up "fyw3.tmp" wants to access the net, so i deny it (via zone alarm) but i have no idea what it is, cant find it on google. any suggestions as to what it is or does?

odd thing is, i have used the search facility and all it has found in relation to fyw3 is the fact i tried to google for it and the fact zone aalrm denied it

I would suggest searching your machine for the file to identify its resident folder, as this might give you some clues to it's identity. It would be unusual for a reputable programmer to create a file with a .tmp suffix to perform an internet access task, so I would suggest that it could be some kind of trojen. Have you installed anything new or visited a new site since your last reboot?

This highlights one of the failings of software firewalls. While the ability to block an outgoing network request can be a good thing, it actually masks the problem rather than resolve it.

What virus/spyware protection do you have?

but i also run ad-aware (doing that now)
