Evening,

Regarding zone valves and end switches - what does the 'PL' bit of PL 230 v on the drawing mean?
It appears to be the supply for the switch on the zone valve, so is it 'permanent live' ?

And from where should it be sourced as a best practise?

cheers

Permanent live, when the valve opens a internal switch then closes supplying live to fire the boiler/circ pump.

Just realised and edited my post as you'd replied - thanks!

From where should it be picked up from as per best practise?
Can you nick it from the supply live?

Yes, these are usually all channelled through a wiring centre and you can utilise the live that feeds into that. Invariably they are all fed from a single fused supply to ensure safe isolation of the whole system when power is shut down.
