500 watt flood light V

Its getting dark so you want to install a 500w flood light great idea, they are cheap, easy to install and .............

The above is true, but they also need to be fitted high up pointing down, most people stick one on the end of the garage and tilt it.
This can still shine into your neighbours garden / house which is annoying for them.
Also for you it can be "blinding" if its at the wrong angle.

may i suggest that you install several smaller (lower wattage) lights, this will cost a bit more (depending on lights chosen) But it has more advantages.

if one lamp fails you still have the others
less electricty used
better effect
doesnt annoy the neighbours
doesnt "blind" you
can light more than one area at same time (e.g. side and front of building)

Agreed. Several 7 or 11W energy saving bulkheads scattered around do a much better job than those damn floodlights.

We have a 13 watt PLC (a type of energy saving only fitting) dusk to dawn light, that casts a nice glow over the garden.

There was a 500watt floody there before. It was there for 15 years, bulb never needed changing, got moved once when conservatory was built. Dont build em like they used to.
