Hi all,

I've been searching the forum to help with this but can't seem to find the answer.

I have a bedroom that is split in two and in one section I want to install 4 down lights and in the other I want to install 2.

I want to be able to switch these two sections on and off independantly.

Please advise how best to achieve this.

Rgds

Get a 1 way 2 gang switch, a 5A terminal block, some green+yellow sleeving and some 1.5mm^2 twin and earth.

Take a feed from a nearby lighting circuit to the switch. At the switch connect the phase (brown) conductor to the common terminal and link this to the other common terminal using a small length of brown conductor. Put the neutral (blue) conductor into the terminal block. Sleeve the bare conductor with g+y sleeving and connect that to the earth terminal at the switch/backbox or into a terminal block if neither are present.

Take 2 lengths of twin and earth sufficient in length to reach from the switch to the first downlight in each room.

Connect the neutral and earth conductors to the appropriate terminal blocks. Take the phase conductors and connect each one to a different L1 terminal.

Then connect the other end of each cable to the downlighters and loop around to each one.
