Atila, I remember in one of my last threads you mentioned that you guys use cat5e for cctv

I was wondering what you do to the cat5e cable for external cameras, do you slide th cable through some uv and water resistant conduit or something?

We keep the cable internal as far as possible.
Only then do we use conduit.
As mentioned, you can get external cat5 but rare we need it.

Atila thanks for the reply matey,

Drgl, I have come across a bit of a predicament as some of you may have seen in the electrical section and as Disinfo is aware of above. There are two things i am wiring, my computer network and my cctv

Once Atila confirmed that Cat5e is fine to use for CCTV i thought id rather hit two birds with one stone but now ive come across an issue where i would need external grade cat5e cable for my computer network also in order to avoid interference with electrical cables.

So I would need in my estimation around 200 meters for the STP and around another 50 meters of normal utp

btw disinfo, is this the same cable you recommended for my computing network?

No,

the cable I posted above is external grade UTP, suitable for use with CCTV and baluns.

The cable i posted is the electrical section is Excel FTP, which is more resiliant to electrical inteference.

can the excel ftp be used for the cctv also?

as you may be aware i have bought the cat5e stp and wondering if it would do fine for both purposes.

Note that if you use FTP then the modules at the floor outlet end & the patch panel should all be shielded too.
