Silly quote???

Well i finally decided to get a proffesional in to quote for a new system in my 4 bed house. It went as follows:

Remove existing system and increase mains to 25 mm if needed
Supply:

Bosch 24 i boiler
250 l Heatrae sabia megaflow tank
12 radiatiors
Hot and cold feed to new ensuite / dwonstairs room ( only 1st fit so no sink etc..)

NO electrics

£9042 plus vat


Is this what i can expect. They are a big firm called Wilmec in northwest?

I would really apprecieate some advice !

My rule of thumb quote system comes to exactly £7000 inclusive but excluding any gas supply upgrade exceeding 3 m long and excluding anything to do with "25 mm if required" which I dont understand.

I think they are a big firm with a big price.

Why not call a good local independent?

Wow thanks for the quick response.

The 25mm if needed i was told is the cold water feed into the house may be to small therefore less pressure.

If i kept the existing pipe work and only had the new pipes to the new rooms fitted ( which are empty / newly erected) would that lower the price?

That is a huge storage vessel for the hot water.
Are you sure need one this big?
You could save money there if not.
The quote you have got seems on the high side.

yup all the time, typical over pricing comes down to a fussy customer, or if you see possible pit holes, making the work longer than intended. then if you dont get the job its all good, but if you do then its a real earner.

we tend to only do it if the customer is a ****** or if they are gnna be picky

yeah defo m8, i didnt mean it that way, i was simply saying experiences i have had when quoting for a conversion, and i could tell the customer would be a nightmare, i think every plumber knows where im coming from

Without looking at their property, my off the top of my head estimate would be £6000 to £6500

I agree with Tony, approx £7000 + VAT is more like it, maybe a bit less if an easy house to work in.
