My alarm just sounded itself in the middle of the night which was nice.I shut it down with my code but now it will not do anything on the keypad and the attack light is showing.I have tried to power it off but nothing clears it.I know the egineer who put this in put his own codes in and keeps charging us £40 to come out everytime the alarm comes up for a service by showing the flashing tamper. All he does is keys his code in and clears it then trots of £40 richer. He would be hanged in the days of Robin Hood for this.I would be greatful if anyone can tell me how to clear this 1st problem to get my alarm to function right and also if there is a way to clear his rip off codes off as well.In the time Ive had the alarm I could have bought a new system and swapped it all over myself as Im not bad with electical things and he could be told to sod off as he has made a fortune of me.Many thanks in advance or your help

the attack light is a panic button. have you got a panic button? if you do it needs reset to clear the attack fault. as for the flashing tamper like you say its just a money thing. it doesn`t mean anything the flashing tamper. he`s just making sure he has to come back every year for your cash. options are - next time the installer comes round tell him to switch the servie timer off. that will get rid of it. or get yourself a engineer manuel, default the system and program it yourself.

We do not have a panic button added on only the two buttons on the keypad to press together for a panic.I do not want to call him out as he is getting money from us all the time.I paid for the alarm and own it so why should he have a hold on us everytime it needs to get sorted this is an absoloute rip off and should not be happening,He has had money for fitting and supplying the systen but he is still having to come every year to sort it out which in my opinion there should be a law again this as its nothing short of being a con man.How do I go about reseting it back to favtory reset does anyone know how to do this or am I best off fetting a new g4 and just swapping it over for my 8 mini. If this is posssible

if you don`t have a seperate panic button on the system but you do have it on the keypad itself and it won`t reset then that is a problem. nothing to do with the service tamper light. this is a genuine problem , its not a case of a couple of buttons to reset this. if your confident enough i would open the main panel and check the PA terminals make sure there tight. there should be a link across it if its not used. may just need tightened up. failing that i would take the battery and mains off the system. wait a couple of seconds then put the mains back on. enter the code to stop the noise. put battery back on and panel back together. if it doesn`t clear panel is faulty.

edit - when panel is fully back together. pressing reset should clear the problem if panel is ok

I have just done as you said and all the wires are fine in the panel. The pa is in use as there is a red and black wire into this and I tried it one day on an alarm test mode to check system was ok.I have tried to disconect mains and battery but its just firing all bells when I put it back togetther so I put the code in to stop it and it works but when I presss reset it just goes back to showing the attack light and will not work on any of the buttons

so there is a seperate panic button then if there is wires are in the PA terminals. all that needs done is the panic button needs reset then you can reset the panel ready to use again

If I was near to you I would buy you a beer. Many thanks for your help as you were right there is a panic button as my wife just told me its in our little girls bedroom. She has shoved it down by accident not knowing what it is when messing in her room and I completly forgot we had this on.System is reset now and working fine again. Many thanks for your quick help and Its one to remember for the future

why should he have a hold on us everytime it needs to get sorted this is an absoloute rip off and should not be happening,

Just because you do not like something does not mean to say it is wrong.

You always have the choice of going elsewhere. i admit i do not agree with (IF) there is a service timer, but it should be checked / maintained at least once a year.

It would also be a good idea if all the circuits were labled on the panel as to what is what to save you from throwing your toys out of your pram again.
