crabtree loadstar 3 phase , are all sparks so crap?

I do remember fitting a siemens board with a mixture of MCB's and RCBO's and the design would only allow the units to be fitted one way around and the on / off on MCB's was opposite to RCBO's I complained most bitterly and then started to fit Merlin Gerin as standard.
Having been there and done that I would be careful and until I had them in my hand I would be careful on criticising just in case it was another siemens type board.

Has one of the cores been used as an earth?

no. it was only 3 core cable , brown/black/grey i think. These 3 have been used for the lives. Only the outer core of the armored as the earth.

Well if 2.5mm is o.k then there is no problem i guess. Thats if it passes its test.

There are two ways of selecting the size of a CPC, by using table 54.7 in the 17th edn regs or by using the adiabatic equation (which is where the reduced CPC in a twin and earth comes from).

In english please !

anyway i have done it myself now and all is working. I need to find a mate with test gear to check things over! I can not belive how poor the quality of what most sparks work to.
However there seems to be few on this forum that seem to know what is going on but i have decided to never employ a 'spark' again! With **** ups in my own home and from what i have seen over the last few weeks, well i know i can do a better job myself ( without training!, who the 'f'' passed half you lot?)

And ye im really ****ed!

If you are never going to employ a sparks ever again then you'd better get used to the terminology :lol:
CPC = Circuit protective conductor
17th edition = BS7671:2008
adiabatic equation, S=(SqRoot I^2t) / K

maybe i should just add you as a best mate, then i can run the bits past you that i dont understand? Or, you fancy a trip to brum to sort out the **** that other sparks around here cant ? Brummy Sparks are ****!

O any chance of sending me a copy of this 17th edition? :roll:

I'm sure they are not all bad - it is getting the correct one for the job. Some domestic sparks are not familiar with 3 phase, you may be better looking for a commercial / industrial spark.
As for the regs, they are available from here: clicky
