Bishops finger....

drinking a strong beer at more than 5 degrees is not an option to me

It's a matter of preference so I say drink it at the temperature you prefer! :D Some people like a warm lager, and I've even had red wine served chilled before.

Personally I'd drink a Finger at or near room temperature to get more of the complex flavours.

Perhaps you should experiment? Get 8 bottles, keep one at room temperature and put the rest in the fridge. Work your way through them and you'll soon find the best temperature... although you might not care about the experiment after the 4th or 5th bottle!

i thought this was a light ale not lager, have you tried the frisky ferrit.

Spanish red wine should always be served close to 0 degrees, this allows most of the awful flavour to be destroyed.

wash your floor with it instead of drinking it, no taste problem then

Did you know that hops were added to the traditional ale recipes to make up for the flavour destroying properties of southern (hard) water? According to a brewer friend of mine.

southern water is predominantly hard due to the chalk substrata, but its no where near as hard as that from gypsum areas, such as burton upon trent or tadcaster.
thats why southern bitters are at the best mediocre :P

answers simple send the southern water north and bring the northern water here, let them have the limescale for a change :D
