Very quick question on upgrading existing single skin external wall when converting a garage.

I have had several conflicting info. Which is the correct way, working from the outside in..

External Brick
Painted on "Black jack" DPM or equiverlant
3x2 studs with 100mm rockwool insulation packed between
12.5mm platerboard

or..

External Brick
Painted on "Black jack" DPM or equiverlant
50mm clear cavity
4x2 stud work with 100mm celotex between
12.5mm platerboard

or is there a different way?

Many Thanks

Mike

either would be suitable but both would need beefing up to satisfy reg's. even more so with the rockwool. don't forget vapour barrier etc.

have a peek here.

OK, so...

External Brick
10mm gap
4x2 studs with 100mm celotex insulation packed between
vapour barrier
12.5mm platerboard

or..

External Brick
10mm gap
4x2 studs with 100mm celotex insulation packed between
12.5mm foil backed platerboard

any good?

500 guage visqueen will work out a lot cheaper than foil backed p/b.

also 100mm rockwool between the studs and 25mm celotex over will be more than sufficient
