Blockwork for beam support

Hi,

Structural engineer calcs state that the inner leaf for my pillars supporting a 5.5m bean should be constructed in 3.5N block work.

Are thermalite blocks satisfactory for this?
 
Well, I suppose it is a serious problem trying to span a 5m long beaN... :lol:
