Hi all
Cutting in opening for Kitchen /Diner, app 9ft span, will leave pillar at one end to support but on the other end the door frame is tight on the wall leaving no support other than in to external gable cavity, can I "rest" the RSJ on the inner leaf, I assume 100mm brick/block, or build a pillar for support, This is weeks away I will have to have an Engineer as per building regs, should I wait for his advice? (on the support)
Thanks

You can normally support a beam on the internal leaf of a domestic cavity wall without a pier

Thanks for that Woody, if that is the case then can I "rest" the other end in the opposite internal dividing 100mm brick wall in a "H" shape and do away with the ground support or is this not strong enough? thanks again
