how much should i charge

Firstly, i know next to screw all about electrics.

But...........

Price of materials, labour on site, getting to and from the job, picking up materials etc all looks about right to me.
What were materials? Just over £100?

Don't think anyone can complain at the labour rates for ANY professional at that

What were the resistance readings of these main protective bonds? (no guessing what I'm thinking!)

spark,,,,,,,,,,
the gas was 0.02
water was 0.03

what are you thinking,,,,,
not the answer to my original question thats for sure,,,

Think others have answered what I was thinking - the resistance should not exceed 0.05 ohms which if you use the design figures for 10mm equates to thirtysomething meters

We charge £235 per day for gas, electric or plumbing plus we charge between 25 & 50% on top of all materials hourly rate £57 per hour for anything less than 3 hours

what do you class as as full day?

if you work over the 3 hours do you charge a days rate?

if you worked 6 hours and charged a days rate, would you be narked if the customer requested that you stop and mow the lawns since they've paid for you for the full day?

I always class a full day as a job that takes you long enough so that you can't fit another one in on that day. anything over 6hrs is a day i reckon

Have you tried this website ?
www.whatprice.co.uk.
It may not be any use for this job but could be useful in the future

Generally I charge £30 an hour and add 20% on materials, I ended up running around like an idiot and not making any money so thought sod it !! If people wont pay my price they can get someone else !

80m does sound horrendous and the OP got just a little defensive when questioned about the resistance figures....

I did one last January where the board was in the middle of the (detached) house, 7m from the outside wall. I had to run the PEB from the board down the outside wall to the gas meter, then along and round two full external walls to the stopcock. All in conduit and unbroken too...

And all that was less than 20m.

Going on 80m of 10mm², the figure at the destination would be more like 0.11 Ohms.

I have heard it is permissable to join a PEB conductor as long as you do a permanent connection i.e. crimp it - not via a screw terminal!!

anything over 1/2 a day is charged at full day. there are plenty of people out there willing to pay the going rate those who won't can go elsewhere!

most of my customers know to ask if they have a little job for filling the last 1/2 hour or so and i'm always happy to help them if I can

most customers stay with me for years as they know I look after them.

if you charge me a full day then you're stopping at my house for the full 8 hours...

I don't care if it's painting a fence... I've paid for you for the full day, I expect the full day... :)

if you paid for a 14 day cruise, but they bought you back after 9 days, you'd go batshit at the cruise company..

lads the 80mtrs,,,,,,,,covered 2 runs ..1 to gas 1 to water,,,god knows why im explaining this,, but consumer unit is in garage,,with water and gas the furthest corner of a large 5 bed house,,,,,,
some of you make it sound like i dont know what im doing...you could not be more wrong,,
i was just after a little advice on pricing,,,,
for those who helped i thank you,,
others ,,i suggest you step down from your electrical alters,, and help when asked

regarding the cost of the clips you are missing the point.

I know they dont grow on trees, its just the way the question of how to price things was written it implied it would be something like

blah blah £4.00

blah blah £67.00

blah blah £87.50

clips £2.00

(obviously prices were made up)

like wise with my restaurant anaology, yes the ketchup etc has to be paid for, but the owner doesnt watch you and when you pay the bill say

blah blah £1.00

blah blah £12.00

blah blah £5.50

squirt of kethcup £0.50

If you put down on the invoice box of clips it would not surprise me if you never hear from th bloke again, as it looks like you are taking the P***

some would even go so far as to look at the box of clips see it says (for example) 100, count the ones they can see and ask for the reminder as they have paid for them.

The op wants to have referals from this bloke, putting the price of clips on the invoice is not a good start.
