Photos. We need to see whats going off before we can advise further. Some people simply cannot write out descriptions like this. You are one such person I'm afraid. Dont take it personally. Can we have a photo of the switch back, the cables you're trying to connect, and the new light fittings, preferably showing how you are connecting them.

You can upload photos onto this site when you post a reply, there is a link to "upload new images".

In your original post, you said that there was just one cable going from the light switch to the strip light. Normally, this would mean that simply connecting the downlights into the strip light terminals would do the job.

You are now saying that the strip light does not work, which changes things a bit!

I can't make head or tail of what you are saying, so unfortunately I can't help anymore, so I'm going to declare myself out....

Or repair the striplight, as it will give you far far better illumination of the space than spotlights ever will.

once uploaded, click the bit below the reply window that says "show my images" and click the photo you want to include.. puts it in for you.. no cut and paste required..

those photo's aren't much use.. need close ups..

if you haven't messed with the switch, then it's something else..

need close ups of connections for striplight and for spotlight(s).

use macro mode on your camera / phone.

also, you need earth sleeving on the bare copper wire, and the connections sould be in a chock-box if you're using terminal strip and not terminal boxes..

OK, the switch wiring seems ok (the pictures aren't terribly clear), and also re-iterates that you should only have one cable to the light, since all your neutrals are at the switch.

You have checked the terminal screws at the switch?
When your restore power, you have checked the switch is "on"?

Do you own a multimeter and know how to use it to test voltage?

I take it LABC are aware of your loft conversion?
