Two wires coming in the box one supply and one which is going to the lights.

Normal switch one hole on the top two on the bottom

When i connect blue on the top hole and brown in the bottom the fuse blows

What am i doing wrong ??

What is written on those 'holes'

Does it say something meaningful like C, L1, L2 something like that.

A photo of the box and the switch will help.

By the way, is it only the switch you are changing or have you also changed something else - like the light fitting/pendant??

Full story = faster solution!

com on the top hole 1 way and 2way on the bottom

i had a dimmer and one wall light connected to the 2 swith box

i took the wire which was going to the wall light and left with two wires one from another room and one which is for the lights it self

Are you sure the blues werent in a seperate connecter and only the browns in the switch.

Or was the old one 2 gang

i dont know what was befor to be honest

I have tryind connecting for two hours now every way i can think of

the fuse just flips back to off in the fuse box

its should be simple one live wire and one for the lights

Missing something in the middle :(

2 x green
2x brown
2x blue

with all due respect i think that this is out of your scope as you dont understand how lighting circuits work and need to call someone in who is competant. you arn't very clear as to what you have and have not done.

use a piece of terminal block..
connect the 2 blues together.
connect the 2 browns together.
connect the 2 earths to the metal backbox..

turn the breaker back on..

what happens..???

Ok one more time

I had a twin dimmer (pic 1) switch for my Spot lights and for one wall light.(everything was working )

I removed the wall light and took out the wire copletele

So am just left with two wires in my switch box (pic 2)

One wire from the other room with power in it and another going to my spot lights.

When i connect the switch ( one on the left of pic 2 )

the lights work ok the problem is when i try to switch the lights off thats when the fuse in the fuse box trips to OFF.

Here is a diagram of what i have( pic 3)

Hope i am not missing anything

You're missing out a lot of the wiring. Fair enough to omit the earths for clarity, but in your photo I can definitely see 4 conductors in that switch box, but your diagram only shows 2....

Also your diagram shows 2 switches, but you've only mentioned 1 so far.

BTW, have you studied the info here: http://www.diynot.com/wiki/electrics:lighting?
