Hello,

My toilet is only a couple of year old and was working fine.

Recently however, once I flush, the cistern seems to take forever to refill and is a small trickle.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Thanks in advance,

John

Thanks for your reply.

Will this be easy to do?

I have no idea how to take it apart.

I'll post up a picture when I get home this evening.

ok post a pic.

some the filter is in the bottom where the water supply pipe joins.
some you can access from the float valve in the cistern.

Had the same issue last week on my Sister's and all I had to do was replace the washer in the Inlet Valve under the big nut, hers had split and was causing the Cistern to fill very slowly.

The Washer cost £2.48 from B&Q.

Ah good news, so just remove the nut on the top left and take a look at the washer?

Thanks for your help, hopefully that will sort it out once and for all.

Just fixed another one of these this morning, washer from B&Q cost me £2.78 this time :(

Yep just undo the the nut (make sure water supply is isolated first & flush pan) and remove the washer, I reckon it will have a split in there for sure.

Sniperone -I didn't know B n Q sold these spares. Is there any brand on the packaging as I believe that is a Siamp float valve?

You were right on the money. The washer had indeed split. I went and picked a new one up from B+Q this evening and all is now well.

Thanks so much for your help!

Hello,

hope someone can help. I have replaced the rubber washer but now the cistern won't stop filling up. I've gone from one extreme to the other. Any ideas.

you have either put the washer in wrong or have wrong washer (they are not all the same depnds on make) or the seating fell out (small cone shaped piece of plastic) if this is the case its probably in the bottom of your cistern
