It would be good to have it as a pdf so I can put it on my phone. It will be a good site aid, who needs the OSG when you have the whole lot on the phone

Someone here said he can type 80wpm the other day. I wil have to search who that was.

I think the IEE might have a copyright © issue with that one :D

Oh come on they have made their money by now at £43 a copy.

Plus if you own a copy then it is just backup for your own purposes. :D

There is a scanned copy of the regs floating around, it would not be too hard to find a copy of the OSG I am sure.

If I have to pay £43 for a copy then I don't see why anyone else should have it for free :p

No it needs to be in pdf to make it searchable. Years ago I used to have some pretty good tho not perfect OCR software. I wonder if the latest OCR software is now perfect and it could be done that way?

Martin.

There are two kinds of pdf file. One contains the text as characters, the other just a photocopy of the pages. The first is searchable. The pdfs of the regs which (I understand) one could buy on ebay, to save having to scan your own copy, are just photocopies.

Running the pdf through FineReader will produce a Word doc with embedded images of the diagrams. Or so I understand.

Will the latest version of acrobat not pick up pictoral text? AFAIK, you can highlight it and copy it, as long as its clear.

Acrobat or Acrobat Reader? My version of Acrobat is very old so I couldn't answer that one.

Considering I've purchased a hard copy then I don't feel guilty of having a searchable copy in pdf format! :)

Exactly it should be like a software licence, in fact they should sell it as software and protect it the same way.

how about a regs text service?
if you need a reg then text the problem to me ( once i get my premium rate line set up :D ) and I'll text you the reg back..
I'll even do calcs for you for a few pennies more... :)

As long as you don't mind waiting, this whole forum can be as good as a regs book sometimes. Someone's always on here with some sort of answer! :)

You re right people are forever typing bits out. Perhaps with a series carefully worded questions, we could get them to type the whole lot in.
