check the time stamp, we replied at the same time, i was still answering the white snow bit..

as for space, it's exactly as you say.. nothing to reflect the light back to you so it's dark..

light, colour and darkness is all ultimately abstract anyway..
if you were blind then it doesn't exist....
it's all merely the receptors in your eye getting stimulated and your brain reacting to those signals..

and where does the colour black come from space

Black is technically not a colour, it is the absence of all colour.
The "colour" black occurs when a surface does not reflect any of the spectrum.

Space is black due to the absence of light, same as in a room with no windows and a light proof door. Their are insufficient stars to light space up.

Does that mean that when you buy some black paint you're paying for a tin of nothing.

on the contrary, space is FULL of light... there are millions of huge stars emitting light after all.... however, not many of those photons are heading into your eyes.....

my point is according to the boffs anything with atoms will give off colour
and space having no atoms has no colour, but this cant be true because space is black.

black is not a colour..
colour is the effect that light waves have on the light receptors in your eye..
with space there is no light relecting to your eye so those receptors are not being stimulated..

What makes snow white?

err... presumably snow white's dad, sh@gging snow white's mum?

;)
