Glow Worm Hideaway 90 tripping RCD

My usual meter will read up to 2 Meg as a low voltage test. It also reads current from 1 mA as a clamp on for dealing with earth leakage problems.

Thats usually adequate for my daily fault finding but if I needed additional testing then I have a 500v test Megger for insulation and voltage breakdown tests.

Until such times as I get someone to look at this - I presume it is ok to use the Immersion in order to get hot water.....?

I wonder how common it is for engineers to have that equipment

Anyone who cannot measure earth leakage will be unable to diagnose faults causing RCD trips except by parts changing on spec.

Measuring insulation at low voltage to 2 Meg is also required to identify wet detection electrodes and many insulation faults.

The single meter I use for that costs under £30.
