can i have some advice on powering the shed?

i do not wish to wire into any of the house electrical system.

im looking at a safe way of making a over spec'd extension lead if possible.

id like to have 2 power outlets in the shed, and a low wattage bulkhead light with a on and off switch for the light, id also of course like this to be as safe as possible.

if possible can someone help me out and advise me as to how it would be best done?

i alread have some ip rated double sockets and a ip rated switch, will be using ip rated out door bulkhead light too.

well i may have to have something like that, i was thinking of buying a extension lead - plug end in house of course.

taking the socket off, and wiring in place a ip rated socket (id like to have sockets mounted to thick mdf boad on the shed wall with the light switch aswell) as a shed is not 100% weather tight id say.

im just looking at safe tidy ways of having sockets in the shed aswell as low wattage lighing on a switch.

oh ffs..
hardwire the lights and sockets asn then have a flex with a plug on the end.. just long enough to reach the inside of the shed door..
effectively making the shed a plug in piece of equipment..

then just plug the shed into the extension reel when you need power down there..

ok then extension lead to the shed:

then this?

bulkhead light - switch - flex and plug - extension lead?

sockets in shed - flex and plug to extension lead?

i dont really want to have to plug in 2 plugs, can someone give me a simple flow chart of javing the 2 sockets and the one light and switch, then a way of supply these 3 items off one extension lead?

id also like to have a rcd on this set up

thank you coljack for that diagram (and i mean that mate)

yes i have rcd on the consumer unit, infact it has 2 rccb switches, one yellow and one black, so i guess the shed will be covered by these 2 rccb things, like i say i just wanted to over spe4c if possible, do i not a rcd or for a little bit more protection should i use one mate?

cable size and length..

Is not 1.5mm² three-core arctic flex suitable for 13A when a mere 5m long?

the one shown isn't arctic flex, doesn't say what size the flex is, and is 25m long.

I know that, it was an example of one such pointlessly limited reel I've come across.

Because people use the 13A ones at full load with the cable still coiled up on the reel.

Isn't that what the thermal cut-out is for?

also as the shed is only few meteres from the house i could maybe not use a extension lead.

have the cable coming out from a hole in the shed with a plug on, and keep the flex and plug in a water proof encluser when not in use (id like to be in my shed with the door fully closed lol)

and removing the extension lead should add a little extra protection?
