A friend of mine knew an electrician who claimed to be able to distinguish between 240V and 415V by a quick dab with wetted fingers...I had a college lecturer whose favorite demonstartion was to stand on a wooden floor and touch the busbar tabs on a live DB
But wouldn't he have to touch two terminals to do that? That's just bl**dy suicidal!
as a youngster with a spectrum 48k, i used to take out the fig 8 tape player mains lead and stick the 3.5mm jacks into it and touch the other end for a laugh with my friends..
once did it with one live end each and touched fingertips.. both got a pi**er..
might go some way to explaining the occasional atrial fibrilation I experience from time to time..
