Im having a rewire and deciding if its worth having a switch by the bed to control the main light or if a r/c item would be just as good? With the first option I guess if you decide to move the bed it has to remain in the original position where the switch is!

It is a matter of personal choice.

If you go for remote, make sure it will work with low-energy lamps as that is soon going to be the only sort you can get!

Ok cheers, what do you guys have. Ban all sheds... I think you should sell them on ebay! ha ha

I have a switch by the bed. Not a fan of anything wireless or remote controlled where it can be avoided - for a start, there's batteries to worry about.

True. I guess this would control the main light?

You can have it control whatever light you want, seen as you're rewiring and all. Personally, I have two switches by the bed, one to control the main light and another that controls some surface mount spots installed under a shelf that runs over the bed.

I guess so, just interested in what other people do nowadays.
2-gang 2-way architrave switch each side of the bed - top rockers work the ceiling light along with an intermediate by the door, bottom ones each work their "own" wall light above the bed.

It probably helps that given the layout of the room there isn't anywhere else you'd ever want to put a bed.

I've got one of those remote controlled dimmers from TLC.

It was much less work that converting the existing switch to 2 way, but if you are rewiring, you might as well put the wires in for a proper switch even if you don't end up using it.
