Just looking through bills this weekend to see if we can save money.

Have landline with BT.

Checked bill and noticed we have lots of services we don't use anymore, totalling £27/qtr.

Also noticed they had quietly upped the fee and were now charging us £75 per month on a DD.

When I rang up, I asked what the current balance of the account was.

Turns out BT have £209.67 of our money.

I requested it be refunded. "Er," said the call centre bloke, "I'll have to talk to my manager..."

And before I could protest, I was on hold. A few minutes later, I was offered a refund within 7 days.

So if you too pay a fixed fee every month for your utilities, check the balance and make sure the company is not ripping you off!
