Yeah a friend of ours (a plumber) originally hooked up the cabling

No problem.
CPC = 'The earth cable' - Circuit Protective Conductor
Harmonized = Our use of Blue/Brown/Green & Yellow cabling instead of Red/Black/Green to pacify our European friends.
T&E = Twin (brown & blue) & Earth (green & yellow)

I got round to sorting this mess out tonight.

Bought a new pole switch as the old one only had one earth terminal, hence why I think it was badly twisted together. Trimmed the butchered cabling up and put some sleeving on the earths

Got the 60amp choc blocs (as recommended) and it's a perfect fit to where the original terminal block was fitted.
Sleeved the earth again and I also left about a 0.5m run in the loft, just incase this ever happens again - I won't have to re-run the cable in the wall, just snip the end

All is working fine now, so fingers crossed it stays that way!
