I went to our local market today to get some boneless chicken for our curries.
Just outside there is a road with double yellow lines where all the disabled people park with their disabled badges on show. Lo and behold there was a large white van displaying a disabled badge!

Why a disabled person would need a large white van is beyond me and I doubt very much if the owner would be ferrying round a disabled person in his van!

The nerve of some people!

Not all disabilities are incapacitating anyway. Second, even if this were the case, how long has thie person been like this - maybe (s)he hasn't had a chance to get rid of the van yet

But the crux of the argument is that the disabled person MUST be travelling in the vehicle for the badge to be legally used.

I work with a young lad who's Nan is classed as disabled. Each day he comes to work but not before stopping off at a local Maccy's in a busy road with double yellows and using her badge to go in and get a breakfast.

I personally can't stand people who abuse it like the young lad is doing and I would have to say something to him and if he continued, I'd have no hesitation in reporting him to the Council.

correct, i would call people who do this scum, i would not want to work with someone who did this,

if they can steal in this way they can steal anything, i hate people who abuse the blue badge scheme, sack him and report him for misuse of the badge, and hopefully he will get done

Most people in work have had a go at him and 2 people say they have reported him, one to the DSS and the other to the police. This was months ago, to date nothing has happened as he still does it.

Maybe someone should report him to the local Council as they issue the Disabled Badges don't they.

They may well contact his nan about it because technically I guess she would be responsible for any mis-use of the badge as it is hers.

She either allows him to do it or she doesn't know anything about it.

All badges since last year now have a picture of the person it relates too. If its not the person in the car at the time its a big fine!

Read the post correctly.

He says he will not work with people who abuse the badge system.
He is not referring to the disabled person themselves.

My brother with c3/4 injury, and thus wheelchair bound, has every right to a disabled parking pass.

So if I have him in my sportscar, or my friends Scooby, then thats wrong?

As the pass is for the person NOT the car?

It's difficult to extracate my brother using his board, back into his wheelchair, because of the bucket seats.

My brother just bought a big American v8 van, that he can access on his own, as there is nothing on the UK market, so you are slagging off the invalid for being more mobile?
