I have a 4 inch breeze block wall (Not Load bearing) which we found had a crack right through it when removing wardrobes. had a builder friend look and after 6 months with tell tales on it - no movement. looks like at some time there mad been a bad leak from bathroom on otherside - some water staining. No damp now found.
Moving on now I am advised to clean the mortar away 6 inches either side of the crack - drill 8mm holes into the crack 3/4 way through block from the accessible side at 100mm spacing and inject masonary fixing resin, then fix mesh and plaster over.

Query - Is this sound advice.
What resin to use? From screw fix - Tarmac and masonary resin recommended.

If it's not moving, then why bother with steel bar reinforcement?

Its just a partition wall, and if this is a vertical crack is more likely a "once only" thermal crack, so I can't see why it needs all the work done to stitch it together

Preventing the crack in new plaster would be the only concern - with your mesh idea or a strip of plasterboard

Didnt say anything about steel bar reinforcement???

Standard plaster mesh wire over crack and plaster. This to be completed after injected resin set in crack?

Don't see the point in that? If you're gonna go to the bother you may as well put a steel bar in.

Please feel free to advise how you would do it.

Any advise welcome. As said thats how i was told to do it. If its wrong and you think i should do differant let me know please.

It's the steel that holds the masonry together. The resin just bonds the steel into the holes drilled. As ^woody^ said it's probably not needed for an old thermal crack.
