removing gable wall

Last year we had a 2 storey extension buildt, this was at the side of the house going front to back.

we had 4 knock throughs done from the house into then extension.

looking at the house from the front, the house roof ridge runs front to back.

the extension roof runs at right angles to the house roof.

what was an external cavity wall (brick + block) is now an internal wall separating the house from the extension.

the roof trusses of the house, sit on the house inner leaf block work, what was the side external wall is now an internal wall.

has anyone buildt an extension and removed this wall? its not supporting anything above but i guess it is giving support to the inner leaf that is supporting the roof.

obviously would get calcs done first.

Well obviously it supports one of other of the roofs, may also support ground/first floor.. will also support first floor masonry that wasnt removed in the extension as well as providing lateral global resistance to the property..
Not always impossible to do.. but not normally a simple job.

hi static,
no roof trusses rest on the wall in question, you are correct that the extension floor joists are cut into this wall, however we were thinking of leaving the downstairs as is.

and removing the centre section of the upstairs wall.

leaving a couple of feet of wall at the front of the property and a couple of feet at the rear.there are already 2 doors cut through the wall. so looking a t a panel of wall approx 6m long.

the roof trusses of the new extension roof run at right angles to the old roof.

 Ok, lost me there.. if its a 2 storey extension and the existing roof runs say front to back, then the new roof runs ex. gable to new gable.. or vice versa.. either way one of the roofs has to sit on the old gable roof, if the statement about trusses are at right angles from existing is true..

Is the new extension hipped?
