To be fair to ideal service personnel I recently had reason to call them out to a response , they came that day , & on a Sunday , on the other hand Biasi U.K took 7 weeks to attend an in-warranty fault , & than I had to report it in writing . We get approached by a lot of reps , wanting us to fit there boilers , one question I ask , do you use service agents ? if the answer is yes , not interested in there boilers , dont care who makes them , one tends to adopt this attitude when you have had the misfortune to deal with biasi u k service agents !!

I agree the first range of boilers were not very good and as stated had the f4 etc but !!!! and I really have to say a big but they have brought out the new range that i have been fitting for the last 18 months the WB1A combis and system and they are so much better! SO much easier and better built i have fitted 43 mixed and they are causing no problems at all!

I used to fit Vaillant but can never get through to technical or service!!! and the burner seals are or were dodgy !

Viessmann all the way easy to get hold of and about 100 quid cheaper than the equiv Worcester or Vaillant! quids in with a 5 year top warranty!

My life is easy !!!

I bought a Viessman Vitodends 100 boiler in 2006 and had it installed by a reputable plumber.

Since then I've experienced numerous reliability problems with this boiler and have had to get get an engineer out on three separate occasions to replace a stuck internal air flap and, most recently, to replace a faulty ignition unit. It seems there are a number of acknowledged design faults with this boiler. Viessman's customer service team are polite but inflexible and have refused to offer spare parts free of charge, or at least at a reduced rate. Their excuse is that the boiler was not installed by one of Viessman's own accredited technicians. This seems inflexible given the problems I've had are the result of known design faults - and also unreasonable given the plumber I used to install the boiler has many year's experience and came very well recommended so is unlikely to have done a bad job of installing the boiler.

I'd strongly advise against buying this boiler, or any other, from Viessman. It's unacceptable that a boiler which is 5 years old should suffer so many faults. The company has provided very poor after sales customer service and charges huge amounts of money for an engineer call (up to £250 if you live within the M25). My personal experience has been very negative and I can't help wondering if these boilers were designed with built-in obsolescence to enable Viessman to profit from charging expensive service calls when these boilers fail just outside warranty - as so many seem to have done so.

Built in obselecence thats a phrase that is becoming ever more common !

I have seen a few bad reports on Veissman on here ,how they weaseled out of a warranty claim ect !

U may well find that some one who works for Veissman posts on here , well thats the rumour anyway ?? ;)

it's sad that you had yours installed by a person who had not been on Viessmann's free training :( Markrob69, did you come onto this website for the sole purpose of publicising your dissatisfaction?

I made a conscious decision to buy a Vitodens, because of the stainless-steel innards, the simplicity of design, and the long warranty. Perhaps I was better informed than you, and I took care to select an approved installer from the Viessmann website. I'd say you have a better chance of getting the job done properly if it is by someone trained and experienced on the product. So I am in a better position than you, as I have the benefit of the extended warranty, although as mine has never gone wrong, I haven't needed it.

probably fitted well over 70 wb1b in the past 2-3 years. no probs as yet. did a run on fitting cheap budget boilers. due to tight wad customers. only fitted five of a certain make and give up after the experience. and out of them five. all of them broke down within 6 months.

Do not see what difference it makes as to wether a competent installer has been on an approved course or not , I see it as boiler manu propaganda !

If they are that concerned than thay should make reference to this in the install manual only to be fitted by installers that have been on an approved veissman course , all this nonsense only comes to light when thay have problems with components that were made on the cheap that decide to pear shaped en masse

I fit worcester so i am biased. I can offer a 5 year guarantee as can other manufacturers installers. I can say we fit 100's of boilers a year and over say the last 5 years i have a 3% failure rate in the first five years!

This thread has shocked me! I have heard bad things about viessmans in relation to parts and service after sales but always thought they were a strong competitor! obviously not!

The op maybe should reconsider!

In the case of Viessmann it makes the extremely important difference that they give the homeowner an additional, extended parts and labour guarantee at nil cost.

Speaking as a homeowner with a Viessmann boiler, I can see that difference. I bet Markrob69 can now, as well. Can't you?

I might be misunderstanding u ? but it Depends on what u mean by manufacturers Installers ? some boilers come with a 5 year warranty to all

IMO when push comes to shove alot of these 5 year warrantys will not amount to a bag of beans , word will go out to warranty engineers take a sample of water from the lowest point in the system must be some blk stuff there

I am not connected to them! i fit exclusively worcester because years ago i did the merry go round of fitting different boilers! Starting fitting the he and he plus about 10 years ago. I fit quite a lot of their boilers and the quality of our work is regularly checked by worcester. I fit a boiler as an accredited installer and can give a 5 yr guarantee! I only really use it for remote timers etc! 3% failure rate thats why i stick with them and in the knowledge that if i do need an engineer i will get one next day carrying all the parts!

Their guarantee is quibble free over the 5 years. no one comes along trying to get out of it taking ph samples ( they do take them but thats for advice afterwards, they don't use it as a stick!)

Most of my installed boilers go onto my service agreement after the 5 years and i don't get worcester trying to steal these customers as other manu's do!

There was a case in the CC were worc attempted to steal (?) an installers customers by direct contact he was accredited , & has since stopped fitting them ( is my understanding )

On a general point as condensers have only been fitted en-masse in the Uk since 2005 , these 5 year + warrantys have yet to be tested ? time will tell ??
I see problems ahead in particular if a boiler manus never ending quest to make things cheaper go's pear shaped

Thats the problem various boiler manus use this accreditation nonsense in order weasel there way out of any warranty fact is the fault was nothing to do with the install ? & what is an acredited installer anyway ? turned up for the day ? sat through a sales pitch in the morning technical theory in the afternoon , free lunch ? was at one the other day :)

And in any event Veissman are now offering 5 years to all , Worc will go down the same route 5 years for what it is worth ?? to all !
