How Do you Legislate?

All I am opining is firearms are nothing more and nothing less than lethal weapons, designed and developed to kill very violently and extremely efficiently

If people need to be in gun clubs to shoot at paper targets as an indication of how efficient they would be with a firearm, for whatever satisfaction they derive from that. then let them. But not with actual firearms proper. Their skills could be just as well honed by using a single shot air rifle

If they are however only intended to see how proficient one is at putting a hole in a piece of paper an air rifle will suffice.

I can not think of any good reason why I would want to do that, with any firearm.
This appears to be you stating your ignorant opinions on target shooting. One of the other legitimate uses of a firearm.

If you find my pointing out the ignorance your comments display offensive, may I suggest you not partake in public forums without political correctness control?

But the fact is they have more uses than killing. I think from your posts you are army or ex army and trained to kill people.

Shotguns are very efficient killing weapons but equally useful for sporting purposes. Clay pigeon shooting for example or blasting an ole car to pieces.

Gonna ban all knives then or only sharp ones or ones with pointy ends or metal ones and cars then we kill close on 10 a day with them better add those to the list.

They are all otherwise useful household items which we need. A firearm is not.

A shotgun is useful to a farmer. Slotting a thief for example.
Mine are now in the hands of criminals and have possibly been used in hold ups.
Not a very comforting thought. A seven shot 12 guage pump action and a o/u double barrel.

Nice to see you address my valid points.

Oh, wait, you don't actually have an argument beyond 'guns kill people!!!!!!!!!'.

Hmm, and what would your opinion of fine Japanese swords be?

Fascinating pieces of engineering and military history. Every museum should have one.

Went to the garden centre this morning and asked for some sodium chlorate (weed killer) to be told that it is now withdrawn from sale to the public. When I asked why, I was told that, with that substance I could make explosives and kill people.
Convoluted law means that I can not buy a household substace that, if I knew how, I could modify and kill people. However I can buy an implement that was invented and developed for that very reason and nothing else

Hey look, further ignorance!

Sodium chlorate products were withdrawn from the market for health reasons, not because they can be used to make bombs.

I await your response to my perfectly valid point that not all firearms are designed for use as weapons.

They are all weapons and target shooting was developed to perfect the use of that weapon

This is not designed to kill. Although I dare say a few people have shot rabbits with them. You need to grasp the difference between history and the present day.

I see your random and poorly informed MP, and raise you the ruling of the Commision of the European Communities: http://www.pesticides.gov.uk/uploadedfiles/Web_Assets/PSD/chlorate_decision_2008_865_EC.pdf

You can stop linking to any shooting incident you can find. I know of them. It saddens me to see the mentally unstable in possession of a firearm, however it does not mean I will give up my right to apply for a firearms license, which I may or may not be granted.
