on the archway where the lady is on the righthand side it doesent look straight, spread is another word for plasterer i was asking how much the plasterers earn in the philipines, yes the house do look more like a church but looks like it will have a great atmosphere when its completed

I can't really see it myself, but my wifes camera has a very strange 'barrel' effect whenever she takes piccies, and nothing appears quite how it really is. Generally these guys get things rule straight. Normally they put crisp sharp corners on everything, which I personally don't like, so my wife asked them to radius these arches a little on the upright section.
The 'spreads' earn a heady £5 or £6 a day. The site foreman is on a crazy £7 a day.
Those are fairly good salaries for the Philippines. The American contractor who is running the show pays a little higher than average, to retain the good guys. I personally don't see how they can live off that sort of money, as considering those salaries, it is not really as cheap to live as you'd think there.
Out 1993 Toyota Corolla 1.3 cost over £2000 when we bought it last year, and it really is a well worn old heap. Things are definitly a little out of whack somewhere. Petrol is 50p a litre though

Looks ok to me but the woman in the background can make it look out, just the photo.
nothing to do with the woman, peaps go into his album on his profile and click on the image the righthand side is well out, it sort of tapers in from halfway getting thinner as it gets to the top and you can see the profile lines are also wonky starting at just abouth the halfway mark, thats what im seeing anyway

I can see it myself, now I look at the big piccie. The very right vertical, closest to the camera, not the one near the niece.
Hmm, I am hoping it is the fish eye of the camera making it look out, as these guys are normally spot on with this sort of thing.

I guess you tend to automatically look out for such things when you're in the trade.
I've put a dead straight line on the piccie now, in Photoshop, just to compare, and it looks belled out at the bottom. The top half looks straight though. I do hope it is the camera, but then it is easily fixed anyway, with a hammer and chisel and some more mud.

ok i hope you dont mind i copied the pic so i could draw on it ive drawn 2 arrows showing you the 2 profile lines are out where there is not enough render or i think there is not enough render, hope im wrong but--------- View media item 37745
I see that blip too. Hm..... I hope it is just the colour that throws things off. I know the walls of my garage look horrible in photos, but in reality they feel dead flat and smooth.
My wife sent me this pic of exactly how they do the finished render on that arch. I thought it would be freehand, but I was wrong.
I guess the finished shape depends on just how clever they are with a jigsaw....
These guys do tend to get the walls far flatter than I ever imagined possible with concrete, by hand, even though we are building a 'Spanish style' house and wouldn't really mind that olde worlde irregular wall look, as long as it were all over the house.

im almost certain they would have used a band saw for the profile, also you need these archways to be spot on they are features of the house and you are going to be walking under them everyday, they are one of the main features of the house if they look crap it could make the whole house look crap.I guess the finished shape depends on just how clever they are with a jigsaw....

The boss has her heart set on tiles around the arches, a little like this, so that could cover any grave geometric errors....
