Tax Return

We can't/ daren't discuss such matters on an open forum (hmrc could possibly be watching)

You don't try to 'get your tax bill down'. You pay what you owe . Your accountant will see to that. If you dont have an accountant, get a reputable one. You can sleep at night when you do.

Thats sounds incredibly sad, but never ever try to screw the tax man.

There are 3 types of accountant though.
No1 Straight as a die. Will make sure you pay exactly what you owe.

No2 Slightly bent accountant. Will "save you a bit of tax by telling you to lose some receipts, claim something you'd be doubtful to be entitled to.

No3 Totally bent accountant. Will make sure you get a tax rebate after earning in excess of £100,000 per month and paying no tax.

Err..........'paying what you owe and getting your tax bill down' are the same thing aren't they :(

I agree. You pay the bill, the amount goes down - generally to £0.00 - apart from half of the tax bill due on next years returns.

I was always told if you are getting a new accountant ask them what 2 + 2 equals...

The best accountant will answer "What would you like it to equal"
