I do read quickly squeaky....once my head is in a good book that's it...I just read and read.

Yes, I found many parts of it very moving ... it made me really think more about how life is for people caught up in a war that they neither want or understand.

Yes please do recommend any more books, that one was excellent...thank you.

The book I was trying to think of was HOUSE RULES by Jodi Picoult, about a young man with aspergers who gets accused of murder. Agreat insight into what it's like to live with aspergers and is, I think, very funny in places.

Thanks squeaky...will look on ebay...usually mange to pick up a nice copy reasonably priced.
I read a lot of her earlier books...they always leave you feeling slightly 'troubled' for want of a better word, very interesting author.

Have family down this weekend so no reading

I have never read a Steven King book....I imagine them being slightly scary...

You haven't missed anything, the scariest thing about them is the way they are written. year 8 would possibly get a see me, for the lack of prose in them.

Hi Barnsbury ..... the next book I want to read is your first recommendation 'the Art of racing in the Rain' it arrived today....it looks excellent so I am going to wait until next week when hopefully I will have time to to just get lost in it.
Keep posting....I am building up a lovely list of 'must reads' and 'hopefully' there are others reading this section who will eventually post a comment too.

im reading The secret diary of a slummy mummy.....by fiona neills.....in the top 10 of sunday times books list......apparentley.....unadulterated chick sh*t.....................but thats my level of literature....

id highly recommend it

Chick lit is fine when you just want a quick light-hearted read...recently read The Undomesticated Goddess in an afternoon...curled up in a chair and laughed out loud at a very funny book.

OK, well I'll get into trouble for this but...... can you explain poetry to me? it means absolutely nothing to me. its just random words.

Sorry but I can't amaze you with my literary skills...my take on poetry is basically I read the occasional poem that I really like. The one thing I would say is that you need to take care when reading it....it can't be read like a book....you have to take each line slowly and stop when the punctuation tells you to....it does sometimes take a bit of thought and time to read.
It doesn't have to be serious it can just be light-hearted and fun as in sooeys post....or it can be more deep and meaningful...it can be anything you want it to be really....not everyone likes it.....you are not alone....maybe I am the odd one out...that's nothing new

Barnsbury ... thank you for recommending the book The Art Of Racing In The Rain.....that was such an enjoyable read...I must admit at first I really thought I wasn't going to enjoy it but as I got into it ..it was so good....so well written and lots of little phrases so meaningful that I wish I could commit them to memory, I will read it again just to find them.

Brilliant to see life through the dogs eyes...our last GSD had hip dysplasia and had two new hips...I shed more than a tear for her...and it was just so well written ...yes you were right...it did make me cry (a lot).

Very enjoyable, so just a huge thank you from me.
