Can I add a socket here?

You want to add a socket from that boiler switch, (which is on it's own circuit)?

Firstly you need to determine the size of the fuse or mcb at the consumer unit which serves this circuit.

You also need to determine the size of the cable that has been used.

More photos may help if you're not sure.

You need to determine of the two T&E going into the FCU are two legs of a ring, or if one is a supply and the other goes off somewhere else.

A washing machine is about the biggest load that you can put on a socket.

The grey MCB in your picture is marked B16 which means that it is rated at 16Amps. This suggests it is not on a ring.

What is the appliance that the FCU was intended to serve?

Yes you can supply a socket from the 'feed' side of the boiler fused spur.

Be sure to use 2.5 mm2 cable, and earth sleeving on the bare earth wires.

and there had better not be a T+E in any of the MCBs
