SUPERMAN . That baxi solo is allowed to have the overheat stat bypassed and is perfectly legal and the kit comes with the boiler.

please could you direct me to the correct information indicating that the O/S can be bypassed , baxi tech & gas safe say no.

Superman did you actually check the link you posted ? even after its corrected and you get on the site did you bother checking the info.

its in the manual mate, you didnt think about looking there no?

FOR GRAVITY D.H.W. AND PUMPED C. H.

When the boiler is to be used on a system with gravity D.H.W. it is necessary to disconnect the overheat thermostat, in the following manner:

Remove the two black wires from their two terminals on the valve

Using the black wire supplied in kit with male spade terminals on each end loop across the wires from the overheat thermostat.

Take the blue wire supplied in kit with female spade terminals and connect across the two terminals on the valve.

The overheat thermostat is now by-passed and will allow the appliance to perform satisfactorily on gravity circulation.

NOTE: Even though the overheat thermostat is not operational, it must not be removed from the pocket in the heat exchanger.

thanks for the education mick i wonder why baxi tech said i could not bypass. thanks again,

Sorry mate, but your link doesn't work. However I'm well aware of the risks of asbestos. The H&S points of coming into contact with I labour at great length to our staff,. I lost a close friend with asbestosis a few years ago, he worked in John Browns Shipyard on the Clyde as an apprentice Spark in the 60s, only for a couple of years, but it got him.

Thanks for the heads up on that.

try to google it

Yep thats much the list i used for a safety briefing i took 14 years ago and cant see baxi 401/551/552 on it

.
Would that be same baxi that told ya that overheat stat could not be disconnected
Hard gasket so even if it did contain asbestos there would be no danger at all to customer
