jig saw or a saw

This may sound a supit question but what is the best tool to use to cut
the bottom off a sauna, i want to shorten it by 4 inch to fit, should i use a jig saw or a stanley saw i cant f..ck up with this i only have one chance.

I'd go for a jigsaw, minimal or zero orbit, very fine blade running to a pencil libne - the exact blade type depends on the material thickness and type. This site might help you decide - or you could respond here. To caulk in professionally afterwards get yourself some of these. Screwfix used to do a similar set called a "Fugenboy", but they seem to have dropped it. Alsi LIDL sells a similar set from time to time.

Usually some large timbers in the frame so you are going to need hand saw, the jigsaw may not be up to it, a circular saw would be better.
 
dependent on how its constructed an if the cut edge will be exposed

mask along the line screw a 2x1" baton to waste side on the line this will both help to keep it rigid and give a strait edge to cut against
use a hand saw at a fairly shallow angle this will be less likely to splinter

or a jigsaw maybe with a metal blade to reduce chipping dependent on material and construction again
