I thought there were no tickets to be had. What's going on?

Oly lot couldn't organize a pop shot in a porno, bless em.

Seb Coe said the other day that Olympic venues were packed to the gunnels.
Obviously the first thing he should do is make an appointment at Specsavers, or consider Optimax laser eye surgery.

It was on the radio today that all the tickets had been given to sponsors, however, the sponsors were not actually using them.
Then take the fooking tickets back and sell them at half price to people who want them!!!

Sell??? You say sell?FFS  gIVE TO SOME WHO CANNOT be arsed to turn up, but sell to the people that are paying for it.

According to the various news reports I've heard and read the sponsors have Kelly their side of the bargain. It's the tossers in the Olympic 'family' that can't be arsed using them.

It's a heavily finable offensive to sell tickets, and they are non transferable (they have your name on them, and you have to show up with ID).

The tickets have all been sold, but not used, if the re-sale of tickets was allowed this wouldn't have been an issue.

Plenty of people got tickets for events they have no interest in, through competitions, business links and various give-aways, + the hundred thousand foreign tickets.

They couldn't sell them, so they just end up in the bin.

But no no no, couldn't have people sell them could we, because we are so paranoid of "the rich" sucking up the tickets.

Much better that no one has them, or they go to people that don't want them, than they go to rich people!

Yes, aron, it's all our fault.

Actually, if the olympic organisers had just sold the tickets to the public the seats would have been full. Recognize the sponsers contribution by a small discount in the purchase rate and if you want some hospitality at the event. Don't give them away for free because this is what happens.

You are missing the point, sponsors get tickets, it's nothing to do with how much they pay for them (and frankly it's part of the negotiation how much they sponsor vs number of tickets, so your comment is a little silly).

They give them away (like all those "buy this item and be entered in a lottery for a ticket).

It's the people who receive the tickets then not using them that is the "issue", they can't sell them or even give them away, so they go in the bin, rather than on ebay.

And the solution is no "well then don't give sponsors tickets", because then you get less sponsors and more taxpayer money has to be coughed up.

What a bunch of muppets you are, thinking the Olympics were about entertainment and not making money, fancy that? Same old GD tripe as ever. And I'll put money on the fact that the vast majority of the residual moaners on here had no interest in ever going to see it anyway. You're not happy unless your moaning about something.

Why isn't there a mechanism whereby the sponsors etc have to confirm use of the ticket the day before - then put them on free release next morning if they don't?

1. the sponsors give away the tickets = they no longer have them, it's the ticket holder who would have to confirm that they will/wont use them.

The average person receiving a ticket to say handball, is probably going to go "**** that" and throw it in the bin.

But if they could sell it on ebay, they would.

Which means they wouldn't confirm the seat which would then become available on the day. Simples.

Really, you want sponsors to become responsible for enforcing ticket use?

Then you want to just "steal" the ticket they have paid for if they don't confirm it is to be used.

Simples

Just let people re-sell tickets, problem solved.
