Whose is cheapest?

Basic Talk/ Text only. No picture messaging or Email/Internet required.

Asda are 10p / 6p.

Tesco Lite 8p /4p.

But, if you top up £5/month, you get 150 mins. That's 3.something p per minute.

I guess at the end of the month, that'd be wiped off, right?

I know.

I just want to get the best deal!

Just discovered iCARD...

LL = 5p
Mob = 8p
SMS = 5p

And Talk Mobile...

LL + Mob = 8p

SMS = 4p

Giff Gaff I have discounted as they are having major issues dealing with problems.

Some of these also have free mob 2 mob calls, fair usage applies. Worth putting the whole family on the same SIMs?

Difficult to say - probably worth entering the lions dens (carphonewarehouse, orange etc) and asking for advice, especially on the "free" family calls. I suspect that this might only apply to contract phones, but I'll be happy to be proven wrong. :)

Virgin Media, if you have their home package of phone/TV/BB, are doing a PAYG tariff of £10 month gets you 100 free minutes to any LL or mobile and 3,000 (thousand) texts or 30,000 (thirty thousand) texts to any virgin mobile.

Is PAYG your only option, would you not consider a contract?

Yes, as it will only be occasional use, initially at least. If use increases, then a contract could be considered.

ATM though, a fancy handset or a million minutes every month is not required nor will be used.

Darn it, you got me fair & square. Still, the PAYG mobile would be no good without your number... :wink:

Actually, I want to set up the phone for Mrs Secure, not me.

So maybe I should be asking her if there's anything she ought to be telling me?

I do have a few spare mobiles that get loaned to children & Mrs S. when she loses hers, but they have Voda, O2 & Orange SIMS in.

Cost per minute is too high, hence the need for a low cost tarrif.

Just received and tried to register a GiffGaff SIM.

They want you to top up with £10 before you can activate it.

Reluctantly tried to activate it, failed.

I thought they wanted customers!

Will now be going with either ASDA or Tesco.

Given a choice, which network would you choose (or do you think is better), Voda or O2?

Just the network I'm talking about, not their offers.

If O2, then I'll use Tesco, if Voda, then I'll use Asda.

Asda gets a Which? mark of approval, for best PAYG network.

Forget Virgin! :evil:

Ihave to speak to them on a monthly basis as my bill is always wrong. So Frustrating. :roll:

I can't wait until my contract is up and they can shove their offshore call centres where the sun don't shine. :|

The OP is asking primarily about PAYG tarrifs.

Do what I do if I have to call them. Tell them you wish to speak to an English person in England. They can't refuse. If they stall or say it can't be done write a complaint to Virgin and state that you only want to speak to someone on those terms or you will end your contract.
