Having a meter moved question

Because its going to be PME is it good practice to join the earth and Neutral on the switch side of the 80amp switch? What about when I get to the consumer unit I would need to terminate the swa into a galv box? The new consumer is an plastic MK 10way split load type [/i]

No you MUST keep earth and neutral seperate throughout your entire installation.

Can't you fit a metal clad CU instead?

I used to be an MK fan in the eighties and early 90's.

But they've let themselves go.

Better off with a metalclad Hager, IMO.

Can you change it?

Yes I can get a metal clad 80amp switch but I have a plastic MK now, so the only point the earth meets neutral is at the cut out?

Harry -you may not be happy to read this, but having read the questions you've been asking I don't believe that you are competent enough to be replacing a consumer unit.

PLEASE get an electrician.

I disagree.

If you really did know enough about the design, construction and testing of electrical installations, and the Wiring Regulations, to be able to install a consumer unit you would not have asked the questions you did.

I'm sure that you do only find it helpful for people to continue to support your delusion that you should be DIYing this, but the reality is that you should not be DIYing, and the best advice really is that you should get an electrician.

Please go away if you think you can tell people to only give you the advice you want to hear.

They won't connect your supply anyway without a valid certificate, from the electrician installing the armoured.
