Can any body out there help me with the correct wire to use, and the correct method of moving my meter. I have employed the services of Eon to move the meter to a new location in a new meter cupboard. This is fine but I then have to connect the new meter to the new consumer unit which is about 48meters away. I am then installing a MEM 100A 2 pole isolator next to the meter fused at 63A as advised by Eon
I now need to run the cable prior to moving the meter and completing the ground works.
I have a drum of 30mm single core steel wired armour aluminium cable, which is the same as used on the incoming side of the current meter but the cross section is considerably larger, but I am not sure if the single core cable is adequate or if I should use 2 core 25mm SWA or even 3 core 25mm SWA so as to also take the earth from the incoming supply. I would probably be able to use 16mm but thought 25mm better due to volt drops etc.
Does anybody have any experience of the cable used to connect the consumer unit to the meter when it is so far away.
